NUC Okays 16 New Degree Programmes for Modibbo Adama University Yola

- The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, to commence 16 new undergraduate programmes beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approval was contained in an official letter dated January 15, 2026, signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.
In the letter addressed to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Commission confirmed that MAU satisfied all stipulated requirements for the establishment of the programmes. An admission quota of 800 students was approved for the new courses.
The newly approved programmes span the humanities, sciences, technology, and media studies. They include B.A. Arabic, B.A. Islamic Studies, and B.A. English, as well as B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Data Science, B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, B.Sc. Information Systems, and B.Sc. Software Engineering.
Others are B.Sc. Environmental Management, B.Sc. Meteorology, B.Sc. Forensic Science, B.Sc. Applied Geophysics, and B.Sc. Petroleum Chemistry. The Commission also approved B.Sc. Mass Communication, B.Sc. Broadcasting, and B.Sc. Journalism and Media Studies.
The NUC requested JAMB to formally recognize the approval and grant Modibbo Adama University all necessary privileges, including the admission of students into the newly approved programmes.
