Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has assured that the people of the state will mobilise massive support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and ensure victory for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor gave the assurance on Friday while receiving traditional rulers from Wukari, his hometown, during a solidarity visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Kefas urged Taraba residents to register en masse with the APC, stressing that party membership was crucial to attracting federal presence and development opportunities to the state.
“We must mobilise for the APC. The benefits of alignment with the centre are clear, and Taraba will continue to benefit,” he said.
He also dismissed reports of a rift between him and elder statesman, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), describing their relationship as strong and intact.
“I have heard rumours that my relationship with Gen. TY Danjuma has cracked. I want to state clearly to Tarabans and Nigerians that our relationship is sound, firm and solid,” the governor declared.
According to him, some individuals have been making efforts to discredit him before the former Defence Minister in order to undermine his re-election prospects.
“Some people are going to him to criticise me, but thank God, Gen. Danjuma knows me more than they do. As a soldier, he understands capacity, discipline and leadership. He is not disturbed by lies,” Kefas added.
The governor emphasised that Gen. Danjuma remained fully aware of his leadership vision and capacity to deliver good governance for Taraba State.
Kefas further pledged to run an inclusive administration, noting that Taraba is home to over 80 ethnic groups and that every community deserves fair representation and development.
“I thank God for the grace to lead Taraba State and for opening my mind to see Taraba beyond Wukari. Governance must be inclusive,” he said.
On security and resettlement, the governor assured that displaced persons across the state would soon return to their communities.
“A pilot resettlement project has already begun and will be replicated in all affected communities across Southern Taraba and the entire state,” he stated.
Earlier, the Aku Uka of Wukari, HRM Dr Mannu Ada Ali, who led the delegation, commended the governor for his developmental strides in Wukari and other parts of the state.
He listed key projects executed or ongoing under the Kefas administration to include internal roads in Wukari, the flyover bridge at Takum Junction, the military Forward Operating Base at Ikyaior along the Taraba/Benue border, and the Wukari–Kente–Riti road.
“These projects reflect good governance and a commitment to development. The people of Wukari are grateful for these interventions,” the monarch said.
The traditional rulers reaffirmed their support for Governor Kefas and applauded his leadership style and statewide approach to development.
