President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian corporate leader Farouk Gumel and track star Tobi Amusan for their recent accomplishments, describing them as shining examples of the country’s talent and resilience.
Gumel, Vice Chairman for Africa at Tropical General Investment (TGI) Group, was recently appointed Chairman of Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited. Tinubu said the appointment reflects his expertise, dedication, and the respect Nigerian professionals continue to earn abroad.
“His leadership in agriculture and food sufficiency has been consistent, and this new role brings pride to our nation,” the President noted.
In athletics, Tinubu commended Amusan for winning silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He praised her determination and competitive spirit, saying her performance demonstrates that with hard work, no height is beyond reach.
The President assured both Gumel and Amusan of his administration’s support as they continue to represent Nigeria positively on the world stage.
The statement was released on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, through his official X account.
