Omotoso made this known on Wednesday when the Lagos Chapter of the SNB, led by its chairman, Mr. Ayo Makinde, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Information and Strategy in Alausa.

He emphasised the importance of a credible and vibrant broadcast sector in Nigeria, stressing that the Lagos State Government is open to collaboration with the SNB to project its THEMES Plus Agenda and showcase the state’s achievements.

“The reputation of your members precedes them. Therefore, I implore you to make your society stand out and make an impact. On our part as a Government, we will see how we can strengthen the society to make the relationship robust and fruitful,” Omotoso said.

The commissioner urged practitioners to compete favourably on the global stage while ensuring responsible reporting that reflects high industry standards.

Earlier, Makinde explained that the Lagos Chapter of the SNB was inaugurated in June 2024 with the aim of promoting excellence and innovation in broadcasting. He clarified that the SNB is distinct from the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), which serves as a regulatory body.

“We hope to collaborate with your Ministry and have an audience with Mr. Governor, so we can amplify the voices of the government to the people and vice versa,” Makinde said. He was accompanied by the chapter’s secretary, Aminat Elegushi, and treasurer, Funke Durodola.

The Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, Mr. Adesegun Ogundeji, expressed optimism that stronger ties with the SNB would enhance industry standards, improve content quality, and broaden public access to information.
