In recent months, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has faced criticism over issues in his personal life. While several people close to him have spoken up in his defence, he has now received support from an unexpected source, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé was asked about the controversies surrounding Yamal. He urged people to give the young player space and focus on his talent instead; “I think it’s a different time,” Mbappé said. “He plays for a much bigger club than the one I started with at Monaco, so the pressure is greater. There’s no easy solution, he’ll learn through experience. He loves football, and that’s what matters most. People talk a lot about his personal life, but I think they should leave him alone.
“In football, he’s already a great player, but in life, he’s still just 18. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is what he does on the pitch, the rest isn’t important unless it’s serious. He has incredible talent and will shape his own path. I wish him all the best.”
Mbappé: “I have a great relationship with Vinicius Junior”
Kylian Mbappé has downplayed rumours of tension between himself and Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Junior, insisting that their relationship is strong both on and off the pitch.
“There are always stories when two big players are on the same team, it sells headlines,” Mbappé said. “But I have a very good relationship with Vinicius. This year, it’s even better because we’ve learned more about each other as players.
“We share the same goal, to win titles with Real Madrid. To achieve that, we both need to be at our best.”
