The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce, also known as the anti crime squad, has arrested a suspect for allegedly attacking and extorting money from a motorist whose vehicle broke down along the Oshodi Iyana Ipaja Road.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Adetokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Thursday, January 15, stating that the arrest was made at about 8:30 pm yesterday.
According to the Commissioner, the suspect and his gang members forcefully demanded money from the victim while he was stranded due to the vehicle breakdown. The taskforce was able to apprehend one suspect, while other members of the gang escaped and are currently at large.
He added that the arrested suspect has been detained and will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, warning that criminal activities will not be tolerated in the state.
