Lagos, Nigeria — The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation announced today that it seized 70 commercial motorcycles during an enforcement operation carried out on Wednesday across major restricted routes on Lagos Island.
The operation, which started around 9:30 a.m., covered areas including Falomo Underbridge, Marina, Coastal Road, Ajah Roundabout, Ogombo, Igboefon, Abraham Adesanya Junction, and Second Rainbow.
Officials said the exercise targeted violations such as the operation of commercial motorcycles on highways, street trading, illegal parking, and the use of unapproved bus stops, all of which disrupt traffic flow and pose safety risks.
The enforcement restored free movement along the affected routes. Authorities added that all confiscated motorcycles will be forfeited to the state through the courts in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The Ministry urged residents to comply with traffic rules to help keep roads safe and traffic moving smoothly across the state.
