The Specialist Hospital, Yola, has received a major boost to its pediatric care services following the donation of essential medical equipment by the First Lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. The items donated include an oxygen concentrator, weighing scales, bed sheets, and other critical medical supplies.

‎Speaking at the hospital, the Medical Director, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady for her generosity, describing the intervention as a significant milestone that will enhance healthcare delivery for women and children across the state.

‎Dr. Wadinga revealed that the hospital’s pediatric department has been equipped with modern, state-of-the-art facilities, including a special baby care unit conceptualised by the First Lady herself.

‎” The unit is manned by a highly qualified team of five consultants, among them a professor of pediatrics, ensuring quality and specialised care for young patients.” The MD said.

‎He further commended the First Lady for her consistent and tireless support for healthcare initiatives in Adamawa State, noting that similar donations of weighing scales have been extended to other primary healthcare centres across the state.

‎The Medical Director also highlighted recent improvements in the hospital’s environment, with renewed emphasis on cleanliness, hygiene, and patient comfort.

‎”The Management, has put measures in place to ensure the facility remains welcoming and conducive for both patients and staff.” He added.

Dr. Wadinga further stated that the donation is expected to significantly improve health outcomes for women and children, urging hospital staff to maintain and properly use the donated equipment to ensure long-term benefits.

‎He also acknowledged the support of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, crediting him for providing the mandate and resources to strengthen the hospital. According to him, the governor has approved the employment of additional nurses, doctors, and laboratory scientists to boost service delivery.

‎In addition, Dr. Wadinga disclosed that the state government has reviewed the salary structure for healthcare workers, with Adamawa now offering more competitive pay and benefits compared to many other states. He added that the hospital also provides accommodation and other incentives for doctors and nurses.

‎”The donation has been warmly received by staff and patients alike, positioning the Specialist Hospital, Yola, as a model healthcare facility in the state.” He noted.

‎Dr. Wadinga concluded that the First Lady’s gesture reflects her deep commitment to improving healthcare in Adamawa State, noting that her interventions will have a lasting impact on the lives of women and children.
