The Adamawa State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the conversion and appointment of six court registrars to the rank of magistrates, in a move aimed at strengthening the state’s lower judiciary and improving justice delivery.

The approval was granted at the commission’s 186th meeting held last week, under the chairmanship of the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.

‎In a statement issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Christie Tarfa, the officers elevated were named as Sa’adatu Abubakar, Hammanjoda Abubakar, Amina Talba, Asta Michael, Kwaji Musa, and Happy Nzadon.

The statement described the conversion from court registrar to magistrate as a significant career advancement within the judicial system. It noted that while court registrars handle mainly administrative duties, magistrates are responsible for presiding over cases, making rulings, and delivering judgments in magistrates’ courts.

According to the commission, the appointments are expected to ease workload pressures in the lower courts and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of justice delivery across Adamawa State.

The newly appointed magistrates are expected to be sworn in and deployed to various judicial divisions of the state in the coming days.
