Lagos, Nigeria — Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EkoDisCo) announced on Wednesday at 9:05 a.m. that the national electricity grid has been fully restored and all its injection substations are now operational, following a system collapse that caused widespread power outages.
The update was shared via their official social media handle, where customers were informed that electricity supply had resumed across its network.
The announcement comes a day after Afriktimes reported that the country’s national electricity grid collapsed on Tuesday, marking the second outage within four days. EkoDisCo had earlier notified customers that the system failure occurred at about 10:48 a.m., resulting in a blackout across its service areas.At the time, the company said it was working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to restore supply.
With Wednesday’s update, power distribution has resumed through EkoDisCo’s injection substations serving parts of Lagos.
