Taraba, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully rescued a man who was kidnapped in Taraba State.
The operation took place on January 27, 2026, when soldiers patrolling Dogon Gawa discovered a man left behind in the bush by his abductors. The rescued individual has been identified as Mr. Ghali.
According to initial reports, Mr. Ghali and another man, Mr. Simon Oluchukwu, were abducted on January 11, 2026, in Gbise Village, Mbayonga, located in Benue State. Their driver was reportedly killed during the attack.
After being found, Mr. Ghali received medical care and was safely returned to his family.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, confirmed that military operations in the area would continue to locate the remaining victim and apprehend the suspects.
He also encouraged the public to provide any information that could assist security agencies.
Operation Whirl Stroke covers parts of Benue, Taraba, and Nasarawa states, aiming to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities.
