LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Lagos State Government today, Saturday afternoon, announced that enforcement teams of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) have arrested cart pushers over illegal dumping of refuse along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway in Ojo. The government reiterated that waste disposal through unregulated handlers is illegal under state environmental laws.

According to the announcement, illegal dumping remains a challenge in some parts of Lagos, largely driven by the activities of unauthorised waste collectors. Residents were urged to stop patronising cart pushers and to comply with approved waste disposal guidelines.
The government added that LAWMA surveillance and enforcement operations are ongoing across the state, warning that those involved in illegal dumping will be arrested and prosecuted.
