Nigerian Army Destroys ISWAP Detention Facilities in Timbuktu Triangle

Yobe, Nigeria- The Nigerian Army announced yesterday night that troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), destroyed three ISWAP terrorist detention facilities deep inside the Timbuktu Triangle in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State.

According to the Army, the operation, conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY V over the last two weeks, led to the discovery and demolition of the camps, which had the capacity to hold up to 300 captives. The Army said more than 70 detainees escaped during the operations.

The Army further stated that at least 32 ISWAP fighters were neutralised, including two Qaids and three Munzirs, with several others injured.

The Nigerian Army said the three facilities were completely demolished after clearance operations.
