Two senators representing Taraba State have officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defections were formally announced on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary after he read letters submitted by the lawmakers notifying the Senate of their decision.

Following the announcement, Akpabio confirmed their movement to the APC and directed the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, to formally receive them into their new party. The development is expected to further alter the political balance in the 10th Senate.

The move by the senators comes just days after Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu, also defected from the PDP to the APC, a decision he made public last Saturday.

Their exit from the opposition party signals a major political realignment in Taraba State and consolidates the APC’s growing influence in the region.
