Two Men Convicted by Sokoto High Court for Impersonation and Online Fraud

Sokoto, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, announced today that its Sokoto Zonal Directorate secured the conviction of two men, Abdulrahman Abdullahi, also known as A A Sabo, and Bashir Muhammad, before the Sokoto State High Court for impersonation and fraud.

According to the commission, the convictions were obtained in separate proceedings in Sokoto, where both defendants were charged for offences bordering on obtaining by false pretence, internet related fraud and cheating.

The EFCC stated that Abdulrahman Abdullahi and Bashir Muhammad were arraigned individually on one count each.

The commission noted that its Sokoto Zonal Directorate handled the cases based on allegations of fraudulent activities carried out online.

The EFCC maintained that the charges against both men related to impersonation, deceitful representations and cheating, which led to their eventual conviction in court.
