The Federal Government has extends profound sympathy and solidarity to the Government and the Kingdom of Morocco following the ongoing devastating floods that have affected the northern parts of the country, which have unfortunately resulted in the tragic loss of lives, the displacement of families, and extensive damage to homes, public utilities, transportation networks, farmlands, and other critical infrastructure.
Nigeria’s message was conveyed in a statement signed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who said Nigeria is deeply saddened by the magnitude of the human suffering and material losses occasioned by this natural disaster and stands firmly in unity with Morocco during this exceptionally difficult period.
“In this regard, Nigeria commends the swift, coordinated, and resolute actions of the Moroccan authorities, emergency services, and humanitarian actors in search-and-rescue operations, the provision of emergency shelter, medical assistance, and relief supplies, and the protection of vulnerable populations.”
He stressed that Nigeria believe that through sustained efforts, the affected regions will be rebuilt in no distant time
“We are confident that through sustained national efforts and international cooperation, the affected regions will recover and rebuild, with strengthened systems to mitigate future climate-related risks and disasters.”
“In this moment of collective grief, Nigeria conveys its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and extends sincere sympathies to all those who have suffered loss, displacement, and hardship as a result of the floods,” he added.
