The Adamawa State Government has partnered with Staje Educational Services to launch the Adamawa Strategic Scholarship Programme, an international scholarship initiative aimed at supporting academically outstanding but indigent students.
The programme, coordinated by the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and State Educational Services, is designed to sponsor qualified indigenes of the state to pursue postgraduate studies abroad.
Dr. Vivian Victor, Director of Staje Educational Services, explained that the scheme will provide full sponsorship for selected students to study in approved universities in Australia, Canada and Uzbekistan.
She disclosed that beneficiaries were selected through a transparent process, which involved applications via a state scholarship portal, Computer-Based Tests (CBT), and internationally recognised IELTS examinations conducted by IDP.
“Only candidates who met both academic and language requirements were endorsed by the state and placed in approved international institutions,” Dr Victor stated.
The pilot phase of the programme targets 200 students, mainly for Master’s degree programmes in critical fields such as mining, agriculture, ICT and Artificial Intelligence, architecture and medical sciences.
According to her, the initiative is driven by the need to tackle youth unemployment, poverty and social restiveness through quality education and skills development.
“Education is the strongest tool for sustainable development. By equipping young people with globally competitive skills, Adamawa State is investing in its future economy, healthcare system and technological growth,” she added.
The scholarship programme is expected to commence immediately after government approval and budgetary release, with the first batch of students scheduled to begin studies in the next academic session.
Officials revealed that the estimated cost per student, excluding airfare, is N14.27 million, bringing the total projected expenditure for the 200 beneficiaries to about N2.854 billion, while flight costs will be determined based on destinations.
The initiative aligns with both Adamawa State’s development agenda and the Federal Government’s human capital development vision.
