The Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed, has commissioned a range of key infrastructure projects across Adamawa State, reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to sustainable development in Nigeria’s North-East region.

‎This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, Sani Datti. According to the statement, the projects cut across critical sectors including health, education, water supply and road infrastructure in Yola/Jimeta as well as Guyuk, Mayo Belwa, Garkida, Hong and Madagali Local Government Areas.

‎Speaking during a courtesy visit to Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Minister explained that the interventions demonstrate the Ministry’s determination to deliver long-term development impact. He added that all completed projects would be officially handed over to the state government for effective utilisation and maintenance.

‎Ahmed commended Governor Fintiri for providing purposeful leadership and creating an enabling environment that facilitated the successful execution of the projects.

‎Receiving the Minister on behalf of the Governor, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Her Excellency Professor Kaletapwa G. Farauta, expressed appreciation for the interventions.

‎“On behalf of His Excellency, we warmly welcome you to Yola. We are grateful for these projects and assure you that the state government will take full ownership, maintain and upgrade them for the benefit of present and future generations,” she said.

‎The Deputy Governor further appealed for an expanded presence of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) in Adamawa State, citing the unique developmental pressures faced by the state as a frontline area in the region.

‎During the commissioning tour in Yola, the Minister inaugurated the newly constructed MRI Block at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital and inspected the ongoing Accident and Emergency project at the facility.

‎He also commissioned a 1.1-kilometre road, a borehole project and solar-powered streetlights at the Federal College of Education, Yola, as well as upgraded water facilities at the Adamawa State School of Nursing and Midwifery.

‎Outside the state capital, Ahmed commissioned a NEDC Mega School and Skills Acquisition Centre in Guyuk; another Skills Acquisition Centre in Mayo Belwa; and a Primary Health Care Centre with additional facilities in Uba Town, Hong Local Government Area.

‎Other projects inaugurated include a 2.5-kilometre road in Garkida and another 2.5-kilometre road within the College of Education, Hong.

‎In Madagali Local Government Area, the Minister commissioned strategic bridges at Kuzum, Dilichim, Wuri Gyayadi and Tashan Tsamiya, while also inspecting the ongoing 10-kilometre Fufore–Ribadu road project.

‎The commissioning exercise underscores renewed federal efforts to accelerate recovery, infrastructure growth and socio-economic stability across communities in Adamawa State and the wider North-East region.
