Commissioner Announces Arrest of 75 in Coastal Road Enforcement Operation

Lagos, Nigeria- The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Adetokunbo Wahab, announced today that operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce conducted a late night clean up and enforcement operation along Coastal Road.

According to the Commissioner, the operation, which took place at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, targeted identified black spots along the corridor as part of ongoing environmental sanitation and security efforts.

He stated that 75 suspects were arrested during the raid, comprising 68 males and seven females, while substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered at the scene.

The Commissioner also disclosed that an officer of the Taskforce, Inspector Omosanjo Mohamed, sustained a serious head injury after being attacked by hoodlums during the operation and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Mr. Wahab added that all suspects arrested during the operation would be prosecuted in line with the law, as the state continues efforts to maintain order and protect public spaces.
