Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has responded to growing speculation about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his political future will be guided by the wishes of the people of the state.

‎Speaking with journalists, the governor described politics as a people-driven process, noting that he would not oppose any decision backed by the majority of Adamawa residents.

“There are a lot of rumours about whether I will defect to the APC or not. If that is the wish of my people, I will not object because politics is all about the people,” he said.

‎Fintiri criticised individuals he referred to as “political merchants,” accusing them of spreading tension and acting out of fear and personal interest.

‎“There are people making noise, political merchants, who are treacherous and afraid. I am coming with value, prosperity, and strength to add to wherever we are going,” he stated.

‎The governor emphasised that his administration has cultivated strong grassroots support through infrastructure development, security efforts, and investments in human capital across Adamawa State.

“Adamawa is secure because we have built organic connections through development and infrastructure, particularly in human capital. If my people say I should stay, I will stay and I will win,” he added.

‎Fintiri maintained that the performance of his administration remains the foundation of its political strength, stressing that delivering the dividends of democracy continues to be his top priority.

‎“Wherever we go, the most important thing is that we have delivered, and we are going to win,” the governor said.
