Nigeria-The Nigerian Army announced today that troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have continued offensive operations across the region under Operation Desert Sanity V, recording notable successes.
According to the Army, troops in Sector 2, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages, where many terrorists were neutralised. Items recovered during the operation included two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and several mobile phones. Further checks along the terrorists’ escape route revealed drag marks and a shallow grave, indicating additional casualties.
In a related operation, troops in Sector 1 engaged fleeing terrorists along the Bulayobe to Darel Jamel axis as they attempted to cross a major supply route. The attackers fled after the encounter, leaving behind two sacks containing items believed to be supplies meant for terrorist elements.
The Army said the general security situation across the operational area remains calm but unpredictable, adding that troops remain highly motivated and continue to maintain control of their areas while disrupting terrorist activities.
The military command reassured the public of its continued operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province until lasting peace and economic stability are restored in the North East.
