Lagos, Nigeria- The Lagos State Government announced today that the Lagos Waste Management Authority has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
The government said the exercise involves the deployment of heavy duty trucks, loaders and support teams to remove illegal dump sites along the corridor.
According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the operation will also cover Okokomaiko, the median around Lagos State University, and stretch from Agric Bus Stop to Mile 2.
He said the exercise forms part of an ongoing sanitation programme that includes monitoring, stakeholder engagement, public sensitisation and enforcement measures aimed at preventing a recurrence of illegal dumping.
