The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency announced today that three drug suspects arrested at airports in Abuja and Kano have excreted a total of 236 wraps of cocaine.
According to the Agency, a China based Nigerian businessman, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, was arrested on February 4, 2026, while travelling on a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Abuja. NDLEA said he was taken for a body scan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, which confirmed he had ingested drugs. He later excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing about 736 grams.
The NDLEA also said two Angolan nationals, Mbandu Martins Makiadi and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, were intercepted at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while attempting to travel to Turkey. The Agency stated that both men tested positive for ingesting drugs and later excreted 184 wraps of cocaine weighing over two kilograms.
In a separate development, the NDLEA said it stopped an attempt by a convicted drug trafficker, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, to export cocaine concealed in garri to the United Kingdom through the Lagos airport. The Agency said Olashupo, who is currently serving a jail term, allegedly coordinated the operation from prison, leading to the arrest of a logistics company staff member.
The Agency further reported multiple arrests and seizures in Lagos, Abuja, Oyo, Edo and Kwara states, including cannabis, tramadol pills, methamphetamine, synthetic drugs and cash. NDLEA said several suspects were arrested during raids and interception of drug consignments concealed in vehicles, parcels and residential buildings.
Across the country, the NDLEA said its officers also carried out drug abuse sensitisation programmes in schools and communities as part of its War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations and urged them to sustain efforts in both drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction nationwide.
