Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved a temporary review of the existing restriction on the operations of commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, in parts of the state.
The adjustment affects Yola North, Yola South and Girei Local Government Areas, where the restriction, previously enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., will now run from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily throughout the 2026 Ramadan period.
According to Mr Humwashi Wonosikou Chief Press Secretary to the Governor the directive takes immediate effect.
”The adjustment is aimed at enabling Muslim faithful to attend late-night tafsir sessions and other Ramadan activities with greater ease during the holy month.” He said.
It would be recalled that in February 2021, the Adamawa State Government introduced movement restrictions on tricycles and motorcycles in the affected local government areas under the Adamawa State Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No. 1 of 2021.
The measure was part of broader efforts to enhance public safety and strengthen security across the state.
The latest review, the government said, reflects its commitment to supporting religious observances while sustaining the peace and security gains recorded in Adamawa.
Governor Fintiri has also directed security agencies to intensify patrols, particularly within Yola North, Yola South and Girei, through the deployment of additional personnel to safeguard lives and property. He warned that any violation of the directive would be dealt with decisively.
The Governor further appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions capable of undermining the prevailing peace and stability in the state, urging continued unity and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
