English Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers have strongly condemned racist abuse directed at Tolu Arokodare following their defeat to Crystal Palace in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
The Nigerian striker won a penalty in the 43rd minute after being fouled inside the box. However, his spot-kick was saved by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, a moment that ultimately proved decisive in the encounter.

Aftermath the match, Arokodare’s social media accounts were flooded with racist messages from individuals blaming him for the loss.
Reacting to the development, Wolverhampton Wanderers in a statement described the abuse as “disgusting“, reaffirming their support for the forward.
“There is no place for racism in football, online, or anywhere in society. We condemn this abhorrent and unlawful behaviour in the strongest possible terms,” the club said in a statement.
Wolves added that Arokodare has their “full and unwavering support,” adding that no player should be subjected to hatred for simply doing their job.

The incident comes amid a worrying trend, with Arokodare becoming the third player in the Premier League to face online racial abuse within 24 hours.
Wesley Fofana of Chelsea and Hannibal Mejbri of Burnley were also targeted following their teams’ draw on Saturday.
