The Bauchi State Police Command has intensified security operations in parts of Alkaleri Local Government Area following renewed bandit activities, deploying large numbers of personnel and advanced weaponry to restore calm and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

‎Addressing journalists on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Bauchi, Nafiu Habib, disclosed that the move came after a fresh security assessment of troubled communities, including Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri.

‎He explained that the operation is being carried out through a joint security framework involving the police, the Nigerian military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant agencies.

‎According to Habib, the coordinated efforts—backed by the Bauchi State Government—are already producing positive outcomes.

‎“In recent days, there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri. Following a thorough security assessment, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to the affected communities with a view to suppressing the activities of these criminal elements,” he stated.

‎The police spokesperson noted that the affected communities, particularly those bordering neighbouring states, have historically faced security challenges due to the infiltration of criminal elements.

‎He, however, reassured residents of Mansur town who reportedly fled their homes over fears of attacks that the situation remains under control.

‎“I confirm to you that massive deployments of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order. Operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in the affected areas,” Habib added.

‎The Command further vowed that there would be no safe haven for bandits within Alkaleri LGA, stressing that security operations would be sustained until lasting peace is achieved.

‎Habib also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, underscored the importance of community collaboration in addressing insecurity.

‎Residents were urged to promptly report suspicious movements, unfamiliar faces, or unusual objects within their communities. The CP assured that all intelligence shared with security agencies would be treated with strict confidentiality.

‎Citizens were equally encouraged to take advantage of the reinforced security presence and continue their lawful activities without fear as efforts to stabilise the area continue.
