Lagos has been experiencing alarming amounts of refuse and dirt littering its streets for years, which is now resulting in major hygiene issues and blocking access to roads.

The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is responsible for cleaning and sanitary maintenance in Lagos State; however, the Lagos State government also continues to reiterate that residents are also responsible for keeping the state clean.
