Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that the Osun State Security Trust Fund will be officially launched in March 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.

The governor made this known on Friday at the commissioning of a modern police station built by AIG (Dr) Aderanti Kayode in Oyan town, noting that the initiative is aimed at mobilising resources through public-private partnership to support security agencies.

He said the decision became necessary as security challenges continue to intensify amid limited government financial capacity, stressing that many states have adopted alternative funding mechanisms to meet growing security demands.

“The situation has led to the government seeking alternative routes to security financing. Many state governments launched dedicated security trust funds. Others applied budgetary percentages for financing. Osun State is about to join the league of states with a security trust fund. By next month, our government will be launching the fund,” he said.

Adeleke added that the enabling law for the fund had been reviewed and updated to reflect modern realities, assuring that key private sector stakeholders are being engaged to support the initiative.

“Aside from strengthening conventional security services, it will provide support bases for Amotekun security service, the hunters and the neighbourhood watch,” the governor stated.

The statement was signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
