Festus keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, on Wednesday announced that he will review the first week of the Federal Government’s cashless payment system at airport gates across the country.
In a post on his verified X account, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development said he and his team would assess the implementation before the end of the week to eliminate corruption and optimise revenue collection. He added that the government is determined to end cash payments at airport entry points and appealed to Nigerians for patience as the system improves.
Earlier, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) disclosed on its official social media pages that the cashless system, which took effect on March 1, 2026, includes four payment options: contactless cards, Etags available at the gates, VIP Etags also available at the gates, and bank ATM cards.
FAAN said the move is part of Operation Go Cashless, aimed at eliminating cash transactions at airport gates nationwide and improving efficiency.
