The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother in Sepeteri.
Confirming the incident in a press release, the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Alayande, described it as a tragic incident reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters, Sepeteri. According to the statement, the suspect allegedly attacked his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, after accusing him of shooting him in a dream.
Police said the suspect “approached the deceased where he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head, and fled the scene immediately.” The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital, Sepeteri, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ago-Amodu Division, visited both the scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations. According to the police, the suspect has since been arrested and has confessed to the crime in the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation.
The Command assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently and in accordance with the law.
