Guardians of orphans have been advised to care for the children with honesty and trustworthiness, bearing in mind that Almighty Allah will hold them accountable for their responsibilities on the Day of Judgment.
The Ameerah of the Islamic Muslim Women Organization of Nigeria (IMWON) in Adamawa State, Hajiya Asma’u Abubakar, gave the advice during the distribution of food items to orphans in Yola.
Hajiya Asma’u said caring for orphans carries great reward before Allah, stressing that mothers and guardians should pay serious attention to their upbringing so they grow up with sound moral values.
She also called on parents and guardians to enroll the children in both Islamic and Western schools so they can acquire religious and modern education that will improve their future.
Hajiya Asma’u further urged the orphans to remain focused on their studies, obey their guardians and work hard in whatever they do to achieve a better future.
She warned guardians not to sell the items distributed to them but to use them for the benefit of the children, while also advising them to be content and responsible in order to maintain dignity.
In her remarks, Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim urged the orphans to have the fear of Allah and to respect and obey their guardians, noting that such values would help them become responsible members of society.
She also called on organizations, business people and members of the public to continue supporting orphans to make life easier for them.
Prayers were offered for the deceased parents of the orphans, asking Almighty Allah to forgive them and grant them Aljannah.
Some of the guardians expressed appreciation to IMWON for the support, assuring that they would make proper use of the items given to them.
Items distributed during the event included bags of rice, clothes and other essential materials.
