By The Lagos State Government made an announcement through its social media platforms today that building owners, facility managers, and developers across the state must register and certify all elevators and vertical transportation equipment (VTE) . Unregistered elevators will be sanctioned after March 31, 2026, the statement added.
According to the government, the deadline is part of efforts to prevent accidents in the state’s growing high rise buildings. They added that premises that do not comply with the order will face enforcement actions, including shutdown and sealing.
The government further called on the public to report any faulty or unregistered elevators.
