Speaking at the ceremony held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja,  Disu described the event as his first official cheque presentation since assuming office as the Inspector General of Police, stressing that the welfare of police personnel remains a central focus of his leadership. He noted that the exercise was not just a financial obligation, but a recognition of the courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of officers who died in the line of duty.

The IGP extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers, assuring them of the Force’s continued support and commitment to their wellbeing.

He also outlined plans to strengthen welfare administration through improved efficiency, timely processing of claims, and greater transparency in the system. As part of reforms, the police chief disclosed plans to introduce modern technology to enhance record management, streamline claims processing, and boost accountability.

Disu commended the Force Insurance Unit and partnering insurance firms for their roles in settling the claims, while also appreciating the support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ministry of Police Affairs. He urged officers to remain committed to service, integrity, and national duty, adding that the sacrifices of fallen personnel should continue to inspire efforts toward a safer Nigeria.
