The Kwararafa Galaxy Club has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at improving the teaching of science and mathematics in southern Taraba State, with support from the TY Danjuma Foundation.

The training, held in Takum, targets teachers in public primary and junior secondary schools, focusing on equipping them with modern and effective teaching methods.

Speaking at the event, Project Officer Prof. Sabo Zaku said the initiative seeks to address the declining interest of students in science-related subjects. He noted that many students are increasingly opting for arts-based courses, stressing the need to rebuild a strong foundation for science education.

A member of the project committee, Adda Danladi, explained that the programme is designed to make science and mathematics more engaging and accessible to young learners, thereby encouraging early interest in the subjects.

Also, the Taraba State Coordinator of the TY Danjuma Foundation, Emmanuel Ishaku, said the partnership aims to strengthen teachers’ capacity and improve the quality of science education in public schools.

Participants, including Magaji Angela and Kurutsi Sule, praised the initiative, noting that the workshop provided practical teaching techniques to enhance classroom delivery.

The programme is expected to boost innovative teaching strategies and improve science and mathematics education across southern Taraba.
