The Lagos State government has told people and groups who are running illegal parking schemes at Computer Village in Ikeja to stop, or they will face the consequences. This was contained through its official social media handles today.
The remark said Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, the head of Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), explained that some fraudsters are working with touts to cheat drivers by taking parking money illegally.
It was added by the state government that Mrs. Adelabu revealed that people running illegal parking at the Ikeja under-bridge and Computer Village are charging drivers ₦1,000 to park. The Lagos Central Business District (CBD), or any group of touts do not have the power to do this, the statement incorporated.
Additional information by the state government emphasized that Mrs. Adelabu explained that some officials in the Lagos Central Business District also punish cars parked illegally by taking their number plates or towing them, making owners pay fines to get their cars back.
The Lagos State government stated that Mrs. Adelabu explained that only LASPA is allowed to manage and control parking in Ikeja, Computer Village, and all over Lagos.
It was emphasized by the state government that Mrs. Adelabu spoke out against the illegal parking, saying it is unfair to the public and makes it harder to have a proper parking system.
According to the Lagos State government, Mrs. Adelabu confirmed that LASPA is now watching and checking parking more closely in Computer Village and its environs. She warned that anyone caught running illegal parking will be arrested and taken to court, the statement added.
The statement further emphasized that Mrs. Adelabu advised drivers and visitors to park only with LASPA-registered operators who have valid IDs and give receipts. The announcement concluded that she urged people to report any illegal parking to LASPA through their official channels.
