Earlier this week, some reports claimed that content creator Peller disrespected the Benin Kingdom during his visit.
Peller’s management has now responded on their social media pages concerning the situation. They said they respect the Benin Kingdom, its culture, traditions, and people.
According to them, before the visit, Peller and his team officially wrote to the palace on February 23 to request a visit. The visit was first planned for March 3 but later moved to March 6. They were told ahead of time that the Oba would not be available, the statement added.
Peller’s management further said that they were still welcomed to the palace by palace chiefs and guided around. They claimed they were taught about the history and culture of the kingdom, and they said they followed all instructions given to them.
The team admitted that some parts of the visit may have looked disrespectful to people, but said it was not intentional. They explained that mistakes such as wrong pronunciation or actions, were just human errors, possibly because of excitement.
They added that Peller promotes Nigerian culture and would never deliberately disrespect it. In which they also apologized for any misunderstanding that could have occurred from the visit.
The statement concluded with thanking Nigerians for their feedback and support.
