Governor Bala Mohammed has declared that forests across Bauchi State have been successfully cleared of bandits following sustained military operations, particularly in the troubled Alkaleri axis.
The governor made the announcement during the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration held at Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu Square, where he reassured residents that coordinated security interventions have restored peace and stability across the state.
Speaking against the backdrop of recent attacks on communities such as Mansur and Gwana, Governor Mohammed explained that joint operations led by the Nigerian Armed Forces successfully dislodged criminal elements from their hideouts, forcing them to retreat beyond the state’s borders.
“Today, I can confidently say that there are no bandits harbouring in any forest in Bauchi State. Our forests have been cleared through decisive military action and improved intelligence gathering,” the governor stated.
He commended the military and other security agencies for their bravery and commitment in restoring peace, especially in Alkaleri and surrounding communities that had experienced security threats in recent months. The governor, however, urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
As his eight-year tenure approaches its end on May 29 next year, Governor Mohammed also appealed to the people of Bauchi State for forgiveness for any shortcomings during his administration, noting that leadership comes with human imperfections and that seeking forgiveness is both a moral and spiritual responsibility.
He assured citizens that his administration would continue to deliver impactful projects in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and road infrastructure to support the state’s growth and development.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, commended the state government for sustaining peace and promoting development across communities. The monarch urged citizens to continue supporting government policies while upholding values of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect.
He also called on leaders at all levels to prioritize justice and fairness in governance, emphasizing that lasting peace can only be achieved where equity prevails.
