A total of 287 delegates from Jigawa State are set to participate in the forthcoming National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The State Chairman of the party, Ahmed Garba Maikudi, disclosed this shortly after a State Executive Committee meeting held in Dutse, the state capital.

Maikudi said the meeting was convened to finalise preparations for the trip, noting that the delegation would depart on Friday ahead of the convention slated for Saturday.

He confirmed that the list of delegates had already been submitted to the party’s national headquarters, adding that all logistics had been concluded for a seamless outing.

Providing a breakdown, the chairman explained that the delegation comprises both elected and statutory delegates, including former members of the National Assembly, ex-governors and their deputies, as well as former principal officers of the State House of Assembly.

He noted that each of the 27 local government areas produced three elected delegates, totalling 81.

In total, when combined with statutory delegates, Jigawa State will present about 287 delegates for the convention.

Maikudi also reiterated the party’s preference for consensus in decision-making, describing it as a stabilising mechanism within the APC. He stated that party leaders are aligned behind the consensus-driven process aimed at ensuring a hitch-free convention.
