By Ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the Ede Federal Constituency chapter of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Committee has been formally inaugurated, with members charged to intensify grassroots efforts in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid. The event, held at the Country Home in Ede, drew party faithful, youth leaders, and supporters who pledged their commitment to a strong outing for the Accord Party at the August poll.
The Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council Committee, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, and the governor’s nephew, was represented at the event by Hon. Kayode Isiak (Olododo). Davido himself had earlier been formally appointed to the role and has already led similar mobilization efforts elsewhere in the state, including outreach to commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders. Speaking on his behalf, Isaac urged committee members to embark on extensive voter mobilization by drawing attention to the achievements of Adeleke’s administration across Osun State, and encouraged supporters to remain steadfast against what he described as intimidation from opposition elements. “We will not allow fear to take over,” he said, adding that members were determined to come out, vote, and safeguard every legitimate ballot despite attempts to discourage turnout.
Also addressing the gathering, the Director of Public Communications of the committee, Hon. Oluwaseyi Olaitan, charged newly inaugurated members to redouble their efforts in mobilising voters across the constituency, stressing that securing a convincing electoral margin for Adeleke would depend on effective grassroots engagement and sustained voter education in the weeks ahead of the poll.
Speaking separately to our correspondent at the event, Hon. Segun Oyewale, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, pushed back against the notion that the youth structure was being inaugurated purely as an election-season convenience. He argued that youth inclusion has been a consistent feature of Adeleke’s government rather than a recent development, pointing to his own appointment as evidence.
He noted that this is a position that was previously the preserve of older political figures, but had instead been handed to him as a young appointee, alongside numerous other youth brought into the administration. Beyond appointments, he cited SME grants and digital skills training programmes as further proof of the administration’s investment in young people.
Ogbeni Olaniyi Ayodele, Director of Special Duties for the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Committee, echoed that sentiment, telling our correspondent that Governor Adeleke has placed particular emphasis on youth inclusion throughout his tenure.
Furthermore, he described the administration as one that has consistently created space for young people to participate in governance and decision-making, and to build themselves up professionally, adding that this investment in the youth constituency would continue if Adeleke is re-elected.
Both men charged youths in attendance to turn out and vote on August 15, stressing that young people represent the leadership of today rather than tomorrow, and urging them to participate actively in the electioneering process rather than remain on the sidelines.
The event closed with members of the Ede Federal Constituency Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Committee taking a collective oath of allegiance, pledging to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and loyalty ahead of the governorship poll.
