The Osun State Police Command has declared two men wanted in connection with the murder of Accord Party chieftain Olalekan Oyeyemi Ajagungbade, popularly known as “Emir.”
In two separate wanted notices dated October 23, 2026, and signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the command named the suspects as Nurudeen Iyanda Wakeeli, alias Alowonle, and Adeyemi Ojo, alias Sibi.
According to the notices, Wakeeli is a Nigerian from Iwo in Osun State, while Ojo is from Ile-Ife in the same state. Both men are described as adults of dark complexion, about 1.70 metres tall, with white teeth, a pointed nose, an oblong head and black hair, and both are Yoruba.
The police warned that anyone found harbouring either suspect would be treated as an accomplice to the crime, and promised a reward to anyone with useful information on their whereabouts. The amount of the reward was not stated.
Members of the public who see either man or know where they are have been asked to contact the nearest police station or call 08039537995 or 09060052947.
Recall that Afriktimes earlier reported that the Osun State Police Command had arrested six suspects over the September 13 killing of Emir at Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife, while the two men police said mobilised the attackers, Alowonle and Ojo, remained at large.
Afriktimes also reported that Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura gave the update at a press briefing on Monday, saying the command had received a distress call on September 13 that armed men had stormed the garage and fired sporadically, killing Oyeyemi.
Recall that Oyeyemi’s killing was tied to a leadership dispute within the Osun chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). He had reportedly been seeking to take over the parks led by Alowonle. Union officials said he had just left a meeting with the state Transport Commissioner, Hon. Sesan Oyedele, where leaders told the commissioner they had decided to support him as state chairman. Oyedele later said the leaders came on their own initiative and that he only agreed to pass their position on to the governor.
Afriktimes further reported that homicide detectives, assisted by the Amotekun Commandant, first arrested four suspects: Tijani Ismail, Akinsola Ekundayo, Sijuade Moruf Oyinlola and Ayeni Adegbola Olalekan. Further investigation led to the arrest of Hammed Olalekan Dauda, alias Jagaban, who was allegedly found with a cut-to-size firearm. Police said he confessed that Alowonle gave him the weapon. Detectives then arrested Waliu Adejare, alias Jay Jay, described as Alowonle’s personal assistant.
Police alleged that all the suspects were mobilised by Alowonle and Ojo, and said the command was stepping up efforts to arrest both men and others at large who allegedly took part in the killing.
