Jamie Carragher is of the opinion that Cole Palmer should start for England because he is the finest player in the Premier League.
“Last season, I was hesitant to call him the best player in the Premier League,” Carragher said on Monday Night Football. “With Phil Foden having won two Player of the Year awards, most people agreed with me, even though I felt Palmer was deserving. Chelsea hadn’t had a great season either.”
Carragher added, “If Palmer continues this form throughout the season, I firmly believe he is the best player in the Premier League. He moved on from Manchester City, where he played alongside some of the world’s top talent.”
Superstar striker Cole Palmer may only be 22 years old but he’s already breaking records in the Premier League.
“When I think back to the last time I called someone the best player in the Premier League who wasn’t playing for a title-contending team, it was Gareth Bale. Chelsea won’t be competing for the title this season, but Bale was a different kind of player, more athletic. Even though his team was only fighting for a Champions League spot, he was still the best player in the Premier League for a few years at Tottenham.
“Palmer has to be in the England team because, in my opinion, there hasn’t been a better player in the Premier League over the last 15 months.”
