Lagos, Nigeria – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to begin the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel starting August 15, 2025, in a bold move to transform Nigeria’s fuel distribution and accessibility.

The initiative includes the deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to deliver fuel directly to marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecom companies, aviation, and other large users.
As part of efforts to eliminate distribution bottlenecks and logistics costs, the refinery will also roll out over 100 additional tankers and invest in a network of CNG “daughter booster stations” across the country. These efforts are expected to make fuel more available and affordable, particularly in underserved areas.
“This programme is part of our commitment to improving fuel access, cutting energy costs, and supporting economic development across Nigeria,” the company said in a statement. It added that petrol stations purchasing fuel directly from the refinery will benefit from free distribution logistics.
In a further boost to the downstream sector, Dangote Refinery will offer a credit facility to bulk buyers. Under the plan, customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres will be eligible to receive another 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, backed by a bank guarantee.
Stakeholders across various sectors are expected to benefit significantly from the initiative, with reduced fuel costs contributing to lower production expenses, curbing inflation, and enhancing competitiveness. The plan is also designed to revive dormant petrol stations, stimulate small and medium enterprises, create jobs, and improve rural fuel access.
Described as a major milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector, the move aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The company acknowledged the administration’s support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude initiative, which has helped maintain fuel stability despite global price fluctuations.
