The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in an announcement made on Tuesday, August 26, stated that it has introduced enhanced wheelchair assistance and special support services for passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and others requiring mobility aid at airports across the country.
The authority said the initiative was designed to ensure dignity, safety, and comfort for all categories of travellers. This initiative was announced by Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection. She noted that wheelchair services will now be available from check-in through to boarding and on arrival.
The announcement partly reads, “Wheelchair services are provided from check-in through to boarding and on arrival. Dedicated staff are available to offer guidance and support. Priority is given at security checks and boarding gates.” Orah stated further that accessible facilities, including restrooms and elevators, have been provided in terminals to make air travel easier.
The announcement concluded with Orah saying, “If you require assistance, kindly inform your airline or airport staff in advance or at the special assistance desk upon arrival.”
