A £35m agreement had been reached between the clubs for the Eagles captain, who impressed with a man-of-the-match display in Sunday’s win over Aston Villa. Guehi was even granted permission to undergo a medical in London.
However, Palace’s bid to sign Brighton centre-back Igor Julio broke down, with the player instead set to join West Ham after rejecting a move to south London. Conflicting reports suggest Palace may also have pulled out following issues during Igor’s medical.
Although a deal sheet was submitted to extend talks beyond Monday’s 7pm deadline, Palace ultimately chose not to sanction Guehi’s sale.
