The Nollywood industry has been hit with another tragedy. Popular actor Ibrahim Chatta grives the loss of his son, a painful news he shared with fans on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 through his Instagram page.
The 54-year-old actor posted a photo of his late child with the caption: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.” He did not disclose details about the boy’s passing.
Friends, colleagues, and fans quickly filled the comment section with condolence messages, offering prayers and comfort to the actor.
This loss came days after another veteran, Peju Ogunmola, also lost her only son, Ayomikun, who died earlier this week in Ibadan. The two deaths have left Nollywood colleagues and fans shaken, with many describing the double tragedies as heartbreaking.
Chatta, who is known for his powerful roles in Yoruba films, has previously spoken about personal loss. In June, he recalled how he lost his first child, a daughter, many years ago. He explained that financial hardship and poor access to medical care contributed to her death. With no money to buy a coffin, he buried her in a wooden Coca-Cola crate — an experience that, according to him, still haunts him.
Now, with the passing of his son, the actor is once again faced with grief. The Nollywood community continues to rally around him, sending messages of support at a time when two of its own are mourning their children.
