As reported earlier today by National Television Authority popularly known as NTA, Lunar eclipse will occur in African countries and other continents of the world by 8pm West Africa time and will last about 83 minutes.
According to NTA, scientists identified that ”Countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Togo, Niger, Chad, and São Tomé and Príncipe will experience the eclipse, though the westernmost areas may miss parts of the early penumbral or partial phases due to the Moon rising closer to or during totality,” .
The eclipse is said to be visible to over 7 billion people in Africa, Asia, Australia and Eastern Europe. A situation where the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, a lunar eclipse takes place. The moon seems less luminous as a result of the Earth’s shadow falling on the lunar surface. The moon will pass through the earth’s shadow, taking on a reddish hue frequently referred to as ”Blood Moon’.
The eclipse is considered a global event as occuring in different countries of the world alongside Nigeria, it is expected to be visible in areas like Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan and less visible to remote areas of the country.
