The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday received two legislative proposals aimed at addressing environmental sustainability and maternal health in the state.

During the plenary lawmakers considered a notice of a bill seeking to provide for the planting of trees in and around premises owned by individuals, as well as along roads, streets and government facilities across the state.

The proposed legislation, sponsored by Emmanuel Kefas, is also intended to guide tree planting initiatives by both the state and local governments, while addressing related environmental concerns.

Meanwhile, the Assembly also presented for first reading another bill seeking to provide for the monitoring of maternal mortality in Adamawa State.

The bill, also sponsored by Kefas, is aimed at strengthening mechanisms for tracking maternal deaths and improving health interventions to safeguard the lives of women during pregnancy and childbirth.
