A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on Garaha District in Hong Local Government Area, describing it as a painful tragedy and a threat to the stability of the Northeast.
The attack, reportedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday, February 22, 2026, left three people dead, including soldiers and a civilian woman. The assailants also set ablaze military and school facilities in the village, causing significant damage and heightening tension in the area.
In a statement signed by his Publicity Secretary, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Haske said the incident was not only an assault on a local community but also an attempt to destabilise the entire Northeast region. He noted that such acts serve as reminders that enemies of progress are still determined to undermine peace and development.
Haske commended the courage and sacrifice of Nigerian troops who defended the community, stating that their bravery reflects the spirit of patriotism and dedication that continues to hold the country together. He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to protecting lives, strengthening security frameworks, and rebuilding affected communities.
He also praised ongoing security coordination and reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, noting that improved synergy among security agencies is enhancing the fight against insurgency across the Northeast.
According to him, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda places priority on security, rural development, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic growth as key strategies for tackling extremism.
Addressing residents of Hong, Gombi, Song, Mubi, Michika, Madagali and other frontline communities, Haske urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and united. He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, hunters, vigilantes, and civil society organisations to strengthen grassroots security cooperation, share timely information, and work collectively to prevent further infiltration by criminal elements.
