In a major political development in Adamawa State, the Forum of Commissioners and Special Advisers has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At separate press conferences held in Yola, at least 23 commissioners in the state executive council and 39 special advisers publicly declared their defection, appending their signatures to formal documents to demonstrate solidarity with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The defectors cited the 11 court cases currently facing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level as a key factor influencing their decision to leave the party.
According to them, the move was taken to present a united front in support of Governor Fintiri’s recent political decision, which they described as being in the “best interest of Adamawa State.”
They explained that their collective action underscores a commitment to ensuring political stability, continuity in governance, and sustained implementation of the state’s development agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the commissioners, Alloysious Babadoke (Commissioner for Culture and Tourism), James Iliya (Commissioner for Information and Strategy), and Dr. Garba Umar Pella (Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development), alongside Habu Jada who represented the special advisers, said the decision followed wide consultations and careful evaluation of the prevailing political realities in the country.
They reassured residents that governance would remain uninterrupted and pledged continued dedication to delivering democratic dividends to the people of Adamawa State.
