The Adamawa State Government has formally commissioned a newly constructed cottage hospital in Fufore Local Government Area, opening the facility for public use as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare.
The hospital, situated in Fufore town—the headquarters of the local government area and about 25 minutes’ drive from the state capital, Yola—was inaugurated on Saturday by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Fintiri announced plans to upgrade the facility to a full-fledged general hospital in order to provide broader and more advanced medical services to residents of the area.
He expressed satisfaction with the standard of the project, describing it as a key component of his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.
The governor reiterated that improving both primary and tertiary healthcare infrastructure remains a top priority of his government, stressing that the new hospital would significantly enhance access to quality medical services.
Fintiri further noted that the planned upgrade would enable the facility to offer secondary healthcare services to people of Fufore Local Government Area as well as neighbouring communities, including those along the Cameroon border.
The development is expected to ease the healthcare challenges faced by residents and reduce the need for long-distance travel in search of medical attention.
